The Swamp Dandies are proud to release their first studio album “Fall” out this November on Strum Pop, Mind’s Eye and MGM.
The Swamp Dandies are a surprisingly happy union of southern acoustica and the ‘pure pop’ tradition. Sounding like a Mark Twain character walking down Carnaby Street in 1966, they blend fiddles, mandolins, gospel piano and stompy drums with pop melody and harmony.
They are: Greg Arnold (APRA Songwriter of the year 1993, ARIA winning singer- songwriter with Things of Stone and Wood and Producer of Stonefield, Georgia Fields, Carus Thompson, and Skipping Girl Vinegar) on Vocals, Guitar, Ukulele, Harp, Hammond Organ, Stadium Glock, Piano and Production. John Bedggood (Bernard Fanning and The Wilson Pickers) on Fiddle, Mandolin, Piano, Hammond Organ and Backing Vocals and (live) Monique Zucco (Canvas) Drums, Backing Vocals
Tracked by David McCluney at Melbourne’s Atlantis Sound and mixed by Brad Jones and mastered by Jim Demain (both in Nashville) the album is Greg’s most immediately singable work since 1993’s “The Yearning”. The first single “Olivia” tells the tale of a Nashvillian waiter who’s days are spent pining for a visit from Livvie and “Until you fall” is a Let it be-esque ballad of Spector proportions with all of the strings and brass and none of the hand guns (and is that a Theremin in the outro?)”The deal” is a dark ditty and “Are you true?” is slow swampy suspicious rock out. Georgia Fields’ duet in “Tumbling down” is boy-girl achy pop with the lot and “Tomorrow” is a pocket sized melodic and harmonic feast.
The album is the back bone of Greg’s PhD at UTAS and it is filled with nostalgic strum pop warmth. “Fall” has the subtle craft of seasoned journeyfolk and the joyous abandon of a debut recording and it may well be Greg’s “finest hour”. (Carus Thompson, 2011)

The band is an established touring act (having toured together as Greg Arnold's Tricycle since 2000) and will be out on the folk-rock highway again (and the festivals) to promote this album.
